On the sidelines of the G20 summit in Indonesia


, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar (S Jaishankar) had a meeting with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi for about an hour in Bali on Thursday. During this, Jaishankar conveyed to his Chinese counterpart the need for early resolution of all pending issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh and stressed that bilateral relations should be based on mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interests.

When asked about the Jaishankar-Wang meeting, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told a media briefing that the information would be released at an appropriate time. The spokesman said, 'China and India are each other's important neighbors. We have the ability and desire to protect peace and stability in our border areas.

On the other hand, in New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs said that Jaishankar also reiterated the importance of fully adhering to the bilateral agreements and protocols and the understanding reached between the two ministers during the earlier talks. This was the first meeting of the two foreign ministers since Wang visited India on March 24 and 25.

India backs Indonesia to preside over G20


Jaishankar held bilateral talks with the foreign ministers of Indonesia, Argentina, South Africa, Mexico, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates on Thursday on the sidelines of the G20 summit and stressed on enhancing mutual cooperation. He also met the Prime Minister of Fiji, Frank Bainimarama, during which he reviewed the implementation of India's development projects in Fiji and discussed ways to take forward relations between the two countries.
