Shinzo Abe dies, Japan's state media confirms

 After the deadly attack on former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Japanese state media has confirmed that he has died.



Earlier, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had described the attack on Abe as a "disgusting act".

He said the motive of the attacker was not yet known but its connection with the ongoing election campaign could not be ruled out.


Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has said that Abe's condition is critical. Kishida said, "I am praying from the bottom of my heart that Abe gets well. I condemn this attack in the strongest terms. Such violence has no place in a democracy."

During an emotional speech in the capital Tokyo, Fumio Kishida said, "Elections are on.

I will do whatever I can, and I would like to use as many strong words as I can to condemn this attack."

He said that the attack on Shinzo Abe cannot be forgiven.


Prime Minister Kishida Shinzo arrived in Tokyo after hearing about the attack on Abe, campaigning in Yamagata.


"At this point of time, the doctors are doing everything they can to do what they can. For the time being, I am hoping and praying that the former prime minister escapes from this," he said.

Shinzo Abe has been admitted to Nara Medical University in an injured condition. According to the NHK report, there was bleeding after being shot.


Japanese journalist Tobias Harris has made several tweets about the attack on Shinzo Abe. He has said in his tweet that those who know the Japanese election campaign, they know that during the campaign the distance between the leader and the voters is very less.
